Why does my cat cry by his toys?
I have a male cat who about 9 years old. He has this toy that is a wand with feathers and ribbons at the end. He will drag it out and squat over it (looking like he has to go to the bathroom) and he will howl or let out this deep cry. He has also done this with another mouse toy of his. He will stand over it and cry loudly. Why is this? Is he just trying to get our attention so we will play with him? Why does he hover over it? And it usually happens late at night after we’ve gone to bed. We will wake up to him howling and go out into the living room and that is what we find. Any answers would be helpful! Thanks 
First, is your cat neutered. If he is it may just be that he’s looking for someone to play with him. Try playing for 20 minutes before bed to help tire him out. If he is not neutered he may be posturing like the wand toy is a female.
